Samsung opening a studio in New York to create immersive experiences for VR

Samsung is about to open a VR studio in New York, which will produce immersive experiences centered around virtual reality. The South Korean vendor made the announcement at the Sundance Film Festival, where it is showcasing the Gear VR headset.

According to CNET, the production studio will be located inside an existing Samsung office in New York. Ever since the debut of the Gear VR in November, Samsung has been adding a steady stream of content for the headset, and the upcoming studio will add to the manufacturer's catalog of original programming for the medium.

At Sundance, Samsung is premiering its first-ever virtual reality comedy short, Interrogation, starring Funny Or Die comedians Paul Scheer and Rob Huebel. The vendor has also signed a one-year deal with the Sundance Institute, through which it will foster filmmaking talent.
