Official Reddit Android app begins its closed beta test

Reddit has started closed beta testing for its long-awaited official Android app. At the moment, there's no word on the features that are contained in the app, which was officially announced in December.

From Reddit:

Whether you access it from your desktop, a mobile browser, or a native app, we will work to make the Reddit product more engaging. Mobile in particular continues to be a priority for us. Our new Android app is going into beta today, and our new iOS app should follow it out soon.

The announcement of the beta launch was included in a post on the Reddit site written by CEO Steve Huffman. Aside from that reveal, he did not offer any more details, including a public release date for the app. Reddit did state back in December that only a few thousand people will be involved in the beta testing of the app at first.
