Google: 5 million Cardboard viewers shipped, 25 million VR apps downloaded

Google has announced that it has shipped more than 5 million Cardboard VR viewers — this milestone comes just 19 months after the project launched. The company also notes that its seen 25 million installs of Cardboard apps from Google Play already, which shows that people are definitely interested in experimenting with them. The top five apps are Chair in a Room, Vrse, Lamper VR: Firefly Rescue, Caaaaaard-board! and Proton Pulse. Beyond just games, so far people have spent over 350,000 hours watching YouTube content in their viewers, and have taken more than 750,000 VR photos with Cardboard Camera.

Students are taking advantage of the Expeditions, and Google notes that 500,000 students got to take VR field trips to locations like the White House, the Republic of Congo and 150 other locations around the globe. Seems like Google is off to a great start with Cardboard, and we can't wait to see where the future takes it.
