Rebuild New New York City and save the Universe in Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow [Best New Games for Android]

What are the latest games worth checking out in the Google Play Store?

Updated June 30, 2017,: Assemble the Planet Express crew and save the universe in Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow. Then check out Rider, the latest casual racer from Ketchapp. Finally, make sure to take advantage of the Google Play Store sale, we've got the full details on the discounted games.

There are thousands and thousands of games available in the Google Play Store, with more being added every month. With so much content hitting the app store, it can be damn near impossible to keep up with all the latest releases and determine which games are worth your time.

Here at Android Central, we want to help. We'll be using this space to let you know about the latest gaming releases for Android that we think deserve your attention. We'll be checking in and updating this page weekly as new games are released, so refresh often!

Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow

Futurama fans, the wait is finally over! TinyCo has released its new game, Futurama: Worlds of Tomorrow and it features a brand new story supported with voice acting from the original cast from the series. A rift to a "perpendicular universe" has been opened, which threatens to destroy our world unless Fry can re-assemble the Planet Express crew and collect seven ancient artifacts scattered across the Universe.

If you've played TinyCo's other licensed game based on another Fox animated series — Family Guy: The Quest for Stuff — the core gameplay is pretty similar. You unlock blocks of the home city (in this case, a brilliantly rendered New New York City) and set characters on time-locked fetch quests. It doesn't take long for the game to fall into that familiar grind, but Worlds of Tomorrow sets itself apart by letting you go on little adventures around space, exploring different planets and battling monsters and other characters from the show.

The space quests offer a good break from the city-building side of things and including the end goal of collecting the seven ancient artifacts gives the game's story more depth than "rebuild the city from your favorite show".

As you'd expect, this game pushes in-app purchases like crazy as there are multiple in-app currencies to manage. If you're a fan of this style of free-to-play city building games, you'll love this game. If you're a huge Futurama fan, the grinding nature of this game might turn you off after a couple days but it's still worth checking out because it's the only new Futurama content we're going to see for the foreseeable future.

Rider

The folks at Ketchapp have delivered another fun and casual game. In Rider, you must race futuristics across neon styled tracks clearing epic jumps, pulling off flips, and avoiding traps and obstacles.

The controls are dead simple — tap and hold to accelerate, and tap and hold in the air to flip your car. There are two modes of play to choose from — an endless mode where you see how far you can go, and 32 levels of increasing difficulty. As you play, you'll complete challenges and collect crystals which you use to unlock new bikes. There are 40 different futuristic motorcycles, 100 challenges to complete, and a ton of casual gaming fun to be had. Ads are kept to a minimum, which is great, and there are no in-app purchases to be found.

Google Play Store sale

In case you missed the news, Google has launched a massive summer sale within the Google Play Store with paid apps and games discounted up to 80% until July 6.

There's a good variety of games on sale right now worth checking out — some of them newer, but also a good mix of old classics. My top recommendations would be Reigns, Lara Croft GO, and Ticket to Ride, but with many of these games available for around $0.99 or less, you really can't go wrong!
