Samsung today unveiled its smallest and lightest earbuds yet at its jam-packed Galaxy Unpacked event. The new Galaxy Buds 2 succeed the Galaxy Buds Plus, which were launched alongside the Galaxy S20 series phones last year.
The new earbuds are similar to the Galaxy Buds Pro in most areas, but come with a curved shape and a more affordable price tag. The one area where the new Galaxy Buds actually have a slight edge over Samsung's best wireless earbuds is connectivity. Unlike the Galaxy Buds Pro, the new Buds 2 earbuds support the latest Bluetooth 5.2 standard.
Samsung's latest true wireless earbuds use dynamic two-way speakers to deliver "crisp, clear high notes and a deep bass." Just as expected, the earbuds feature active noise cancellation to help block unwanted noise. There are three adjustable Ambient Sound levels on offer to help you hear your surroundings when you need to.
Each earbud packs a 61mAh battery, while the charging case has a 472mAh battery. Samsung claims the Galaxy Buds 2 can provide up to 20 hours of battery life with ANC enabled. Samsung claims the new earbuds offer impressive call quality as well, thanks to three microphones and a machine learning-based solution that can effectively filter out background noise.
The Galaxy Buds 2 come in four colors: graphite, olive, white, and lavender. They have been priced at $150 in the U.S. Like the other new products announced at Samsung's Unpacked event, the Galaxy Buds 2 will be available to pre-order starting today.
