Sony's Xperia Z3v is a Verizon-exclusive launch of its latest flagship

Today in New York City, Sony officially announced its flagship smartphone, the Xperia Z3, for the U.S. market exclusively on Verizon under the Z3v name. The Z3v marks Sony's latest effort to break into the U.S. in a meaningful way, with availability from Verizon starting October 23rd. The Xperia Z3 boasts a 5.2-inch display and an aluminum-framed, glass-backed chassis with all of the latest internals and Sony's now-standard waterproofing.

The Xperia Z3v will naturally set you back $199 with a two-year contract from the carrier. With the launch of the Z3v, Verizon is also offering a bundle deal to pick it up with an Xperia tablet and save $200 on the bundle.

We recently reviewed the Xperia Z3 and its little brother the Xperia Z3 Compact, and you can check out our write-up for an extensive breakdown of what these two handsets offer. You can check back with us here at Android Central for Z3v-specific coverage in short order.
