Blink aims for the security camera trifecta: wireless, affordable, and long-lasting

A new Kickstarter project, Blink, is mixing up the standard home security camera model by going truly wireless. There are plenty of home security systems out there with “wireless” cameras, but that wireless is only in the transmission of data — they still need to be wired up for power. Blink, however, is touted as having a year’s worth of battery inside. And unlike other systems which hook into a central hub, Blink ties straight into your Wi-Fi network and communicates to their cloud service and an app on your phone (with plans for iOS and Android).

Judge Strikes Down Florida Same-Sex Marriage Ban for Miami Area

A Miami-Dade County judge Friday overturned Florida’s ban on same-sex marriage in a decision that applies only to that county. While this is the second county that struck down the state’s ban this month, marriage licenses will not be issued so that the rulings can be appealed.

Over the past year, HTC has made a name for itself with high-quality metal smartphones in the HTC One series. Flagships like the HTC One M8 and before it the M7 elevated smartphone design and build quality to new heights, even if the impact on HTC’s financials haven’t been as pronounced as the company might have hoped.

Enter the HTC One E8 — a high-end HTC phone in a polycarbonate shell, designed to hit a lower price point while still delivering many of the benefits of HTC’s current flagship. The spec sheet mirrors the M8′s almost exactly, while the chassis aims to recreate the striking look of a high-end HTC phone using less exotic materials.
