Dere .exe is a 'broken' game that will break you [Game of the Week]

This week's games aren't for the faint of heart.

February 16, 2018: Check out the mind-bending game Dere .exe - Please Do Not Play This Game (yes, that's the full title of the game). Then, make sure to check out the big update to Vainglory that added 5 vs 5!

Dere .exe - Please Do Not Play This Game

When I see a game with a title like this, I immediately have to play it. Don't tell me what to do!

This game will screw with your mind, as it features a meta-narrative that smashes the fourth wall before you even load it up. The idea here is that this game has been corrupted by some mysterious woman of sorts, and the description in the Play Store quite literally begs you to stay away from playing this game. I compare it to another game I love, Icey, because they both toy with your expectations.

But if you do choose to play (and you should) you get a very challenging platformer filled with rage-inducing traps and really tough sections that will make you want to rage quit… but then the game will throw something at you out of left field and hook you right back in.

There's a discretionary warning at the first loading screen for this game that warns it's not for the faint of heart, and without spoiling anything this game is going to mess with you. There are some pretty excellent jump scares here and an unsettling vibe creeps in the further you make it through the game.

Dere .exe is free to play with ads, with the option to remove them with an in-app purchase. I played it with the ads and if I'm being honest I kind of preferred it because I kind of needed them to cut through the overwhelming atmosphere this game creates. Highly recommended!

Vainglory 5V5

This week, Vainglory released a massive update which introduced a new 5 vs. 5 game mode that definitely makes this a game worth revisiting.

Vainglory is a real-time PvP MOBA developed by Super Evil Megacorp and is arguably the best representation of the genre on Mobile. There are over 35 playable characters to unlock, each with unique abilities and play-styles. 5 vs. 5 matches can get pretty crazy, but since Vainglory was designed to run as high as 120 frames per second you shouldn't have too many issues with lag in the heat of the battle.

Vainglory is free-to-play with chests and quests, but it's also an emerging eSport so if you get really good you could conceivably go pro and play in international tournaments for cash and prizes!
